Hello,
Further to Mr. Morgan's question, I contacted the Chinese Embassy in Nagoya but was informed that I cannot apply for a tourist visa to China from that office. I was told I should go to a tourist agency in Nagoya. However, my bookings were all made with a travel operator in China. Can you please confirm whether or not it is possible to apply for a visa in person at the Consulate Office in Nagoya. It is also extremely difficult to get through to this office so if there is another number to call I would appreciate it.
Thank you
Mr. Costello

Mr.Costello, yes, you have to apply for Chinese visa through a travel agency in Nagoya, the Chinese consulate in Nagoya doesn't accept individual tourist visa application from oridinary passport holders. You just ask one travel agency to apply for visa on your behalf, you don't need to book flights or hotel reservation through the travel agency. Please have a try, Good Luck!
