About:Shanghai Travel

Hi there. Me and my wife be going to Shanghai on 3rd May. We'll be attending EXPO 2010 in Shanghai from 4th-6th. I'm going to visit my supplier in Ningbo and we want to travel around Hangzhou and Ningbo too. So I'm a bit confused how should I travel from 7th onwards because I have only 2 working days left to visit my supplier. Should I go Ningbo first to settle and on the way back to Shanghai then visit Hangzhou ? How many days I need to enjoy Hangzhou ? We plan to travel on train, so can someone let me know how long is the train ride from Shanghai to Ningbo or Hangzhou also from Ningbo to Hangzhou or Hangzhou to Shanghai ? Thanks

It is more important to visit your supplier. So You can get to Shanghai South Bus station to take express bus to Ningbo, about 3 hours. After that, you can take bus from Ningbo to Hangzhou, some 2 hours. If you only have one day in Hangzhou, you can just visit the West lake and surrounding area.

Thanx Cindy for the info. So I'll be going to Ningbo on 7th morning, stay 1 night there. Coming back to Hangzhou on 8th afternoon, stay for two nights in Hangzhou. On the 10th, I'll go back to Shanghai from Hangzhou early morning to catch my 4.30 flight. Is this feasible ? How about train ride instead of bus, because I'm more familiar with train ride in China. If I have Saturday night and whole Sunday Hangzhou? What can I do there ? Heard that one should enjoy tea sipping at night in Hangzhou, any recommendation ?

Thanks for your reply. I guess I'll be going to Ningbo first on Friday, and head to Hangzhou on Saturday where I'll be staying for 2 nights. What itinery can I arrange for Saturday night and the whole Sunday in Hangzhou then ? Heard that the tea house there is quite nice, any recommendations ?

Both for the transportation of Hangzhou-Ningbo and Hangzhou-Shanghai, the bullet trains could be taken for an easy trip. At the first night in Hangzhou, you could go to a night market at Wuling Guangchang or stay at a teahouse around the West Lake. The next day, you could walk around the West Lake, or take a bus to the Lingyin Temple.

Thanks Cindy, sorry but there's a slight change in plans. We'd like to go to Yiwu when we reach Shanghai. How to go to Yiwu directly from Pudong International Airport ? What's the convenient way and how much will be the charges ? Does Yiwu market open on 1st and 2nd of May ? What are their operating hours normally ? Thanks

There are two buses departing from Pudong Airport to Yiwu everyday, respectively at 11:10 and 17:10. It will take you about 4 hours on the way. The bus fare is CNY180/person.

Alternatively, you could take the shuttle bus Line 7 to Shanghai South Railway Station firstly and take a bullet to arrive in Yiwu in 2.5 hours. Search the train schedule here: https://www.travelchinaguide.com/china-trains/

These markets will be opened all the same on May 1~2. Usually, the markets will be closed around 18:00~20:00.
