About:How to Buy Tickets

Hi friends, next week would be my second time to travel around china. This time around I want to try the train from kowloon - Hong Kong to Guangzhou east. then from Guangzhou east, I would take the train westward to chengdu north.

Is it convenient to buy a ticket from GZ east going to CD north?

I checked the train schedule here our website and I saw that there are only 2 trains going to CD north from GZ east. Does these trains go to CD north on a daily basis?

I am planning to ride the train going to chengdu on march 8th (Monday), i hope the train going to CD north would be available on this day. Any ideas or tips would be really appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Taking trains from Guangzhou to Chengdu is not recommended since it takes 34 to 40 hours. Long-distance traveling by train in China is not so enjoyable.

I would NOT recommend a long train journey. It’s an experience, and you just might enjoy it. But it can be difficult to get tickets, especially in Guangzhou. Last time there I assumed it would be easy to get a seat to Kunming (trains 3x daily), but all seats were booked for the next five days, all flights booked as well. This was normal times, not holidays. Wound up taking a sleeper bus...definitely NOT recommended, to Kunming. In short, a confirmed flight is best. If you must show up in gz with no confirmed bookings, be flexible, and have a plan B, as well as a plan C.
