I have some Australian and New Zealand notes. Can these be changed to chinese currency at the airport? I also have a Visa card and an ATM card( Mastercard debit). Usually when I travel I use the ATM card to withdraw money directly from my Australian bank. Is this facility available in Beijing?

I am afraid that you need to exchange the Australian and New Zealand notes to US dollar first, then exchange to Chinese Renminbi. Your Visa and Mastercard can be used for withdrawing money for shopping and other transactions in most major Chinese cities, but generally not be accepted in rural areas.
