what centres / cities / attractions reasonably close to Yichang would you recommend to Western tourists?

Except the Three Gorges Dam Project, Yichang is a small city and there is no remarkable highlight. If you like, you may have a look at Yichang Museum.

Apart from the Three Gorges Dam, there isn't any good site for westerns, as far as I know.
