About:Embassy & Consulates of Singapore in China

I'm a Singaporean living in China.

Although I've entered China on a valid passport and visa, this visa is expiring and I'm planning to get a new one in Hong Kong.

While this is still relatively simple thus far... the added complication now is that my passport will be expiring in LESS than 6 months THIS time around.

Hence, will re-entry into China from Hong Kong using this passport (with less than 6 months' validity) be a problem?

I can try to renew my passport in China at the Singapore consulate, but how long will this take and how much will it cost? Will this be a slight date extention, or a full-blown change from an old passport to the new system passport?

You can't get a new Chinese visa to enter China because your passport is valid less than 6 months. Your application will be refused in Hong Kong.
