Please advise 1) How many days we should spend in Kunming? I am a natiave girl from Kunming, maybe I can give you some useful advice.I strongly recommand Lijiang for the breathtaking scenery and the peaceful atmosphere in Dayan old city. As for Kunming and Dali, I think the time can be shorter.Kunming-Dali-Lijiang is the best routing I think.It will take you about 7 or 8 hours from Kunming to Lijiang by bus. Dali is in the middle of the two cities. And travel by train won't be quicker, so it's up to you.

You could book a youth hostel. It is easily to find one in Yunnan.
