About:Beijing Long-Distance Bus

Hi, my group of 4 are staying at Hotel Kapok on Donghuamen street and would like to visit the great wall at Simatai in November. I have a few queries regarding the trip:

1) How to take the public transport to Simatai?
2) Is it better to take buses or taxi since there are 4 of us?
3) Cost involved
4) Time needed for each leg of the journey
5) Any restaurants for lunch at Simatai?

Thanks in advance for answers to the above.

Hi:
You can go to the Beijing Hub of Tour dispatch to take bus there. It will be ¥300 per person (inclusive of bus and entrance fare). It starts 9:00 every day. It takes 2-3 hours to get there. You will have 3 hours for climbing the wall. It is about 5:00 pm when you come back. I think there is no time to have lunch at local restaurant. You‘d better bring some packed lunch along.

Another way: take train No.L677 to Gubeikou at Beijing North Station. After getting off the train, you need to hire a taxi to get there. May be 40-50RMB.
