About:Chinese Embassy in India

I am an Indian national living in Nepal with my wife and son who are British. I am a musician and my wife is a consultant for the British Council. We would like to visit China (Beijing/Shanghai) for a holiday in January 2010 and were thinking of travelling via Hong Kong. Do I need to get a visa for China before leaving Nepal, or can I get one upon arrival in Hong Kong? Thanks
