About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Hello, My name is Nick and I bought a one-way ticket to Shanghai leaving November 11th. The reason I bought it one-way is because I will be visiting my son (he's half Chinese) who will be turning 19 on November 15th and, while there, I plan on working...probably as an English teacher but I have no definite job yet. And I figure that if I don't know exactly WHEN I will be coming back to the U.S.A. why buy a round-trip ticket. Right? Can I enter China without a round-trip ticket? I don't have my VISA yet because I just sent for it a week ago but will the Chinese Embassy in Washington, D.C. allow me to get a VISA with only a one-way ticket? If not, is there any alternative method for what I'm trying to do? I appreciate any response. Sincerely, Nicholas Covacevich

Although you don't know exactly when to go back to USA, there will be a fixed limitation of duration time on your visa, so the China emabssy requires the return air tickets.
In another word, foreigners are not allowed to stay in China as long as they want.
