About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

Hello,
I plan to work as a English teacher in China. A school has already offered me a 6 month
contract to work as an English teacher. The problem is I suffer from mental illness and have a minor criminal record. Will having a minor criminal record and suffering from mental illness make me ineligible to obtain a visa? I take medication for the mental illness.
Let me know
