About:Guilin Travel

My wife and I will be touring China in April 2010.

We will arrive on a flight from Xian in the afternoon and will have the evening in Guilin free.

We will take the Li River Cruise the next morning and we will then have the afternoon free. After that, we will visit the Zhang Yimou extravaganza.

The next morning we will motor coach back to Guilin and visit the Reed cave and the Solitary Beauty Peak.

I am a dedicated photographer and desire to make the best of my limited free time in these two cities.

I want to shoot the cormorant fisherman in the Guilin area and thought that, since my time is so limited, I would do best to take the 1.5 hour Cormorant Fishermen Tour
I expect to spend the rest of the evening shooting night views of Guilin and the surrounding area.

I have the next afternoon free! I want to optimize my photo opportunities. I would really like to see some minorities dressed in colorful outfits. The rice terraces are too far for an afternoon trip. Does anyone have any better suggestion on how to spend my afternoon, rent bikes?

Yes, Guilin is 2.5 hours from the terraces by bus, but I cann't recommend other places around Guilin and Yangshuo. In Longsheng Terraces, there is a famous ethnic minority groups, most girls of the village has long hair more than 1 meter. There are people in ethnic costume in scenic spots in Guilin, they will charge some money to take photos with you. Suggust you do not. Or you can just arrange a hot spring spa for the afternoon.
