I am in Shanghai now and will go to Guilin in the next day. Can you please let us know what the approximate train fare is compared with a plane fare and how much time each of them will take. Also, whether an overnight train trip is available. The earlier response will be greatly appreciated and I am online to wait.

It will take approximately 24 hours from Shanghai to Guilin and 26 hours from Guilin to Shanghai if you take train. This is a tired journey and a waste of time. Why not try to take air? It only takes you about 2 hours and you can get discount fare. Not so expensive. Hope it's still usful for you.
