About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

I am an American citizen who will teach Science in Beijing this coming year. I plan to marry my Filipina Fiancee this December. I will bring her with me to China. It was our initial understanding that she could enter as a tourist for 6 months. However she had to show proof of work, and 1000 USD. However after a frustrating morning of looking, I cannot locate an amount of time she can be in China for, nor requirements other than who she will be visiting. It is difficult to contact the consulate, so I am hoping to find an answer here. I appreciate any and all help!!!
