My son would like to get a tourist visa for mainland China.  He had a multi-entry visa that expired in march.  We have to travel quite a distance to Washington D.C.  Can he get a tourist visa the same day if he drops off the paperwork early in the day?       we will be in Washington D.C. Tuesday. I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible. Thank you.

Yes, you are able to get the visa on the same day if you submit the appplication in the early morning, but you have to pay some additional fee for it.
