About:Hangzhou Transportation

We want to go to Hangzhou from Shanghai mid-October. What is the fastest way to go? Train or bus? Do we have to reserve our seat in advance? Any chance you have the train or bus schedule to get to Hangzhou. We will be staying in a hotel near People's square the night before. In Hangzhou we will be staying at the Sheraton. What is the closest train or bus station to the hotel?
Also from Hangzhou we want to do a day trip to Xitang. Please advise on easiest way, do we need reservation? Time schedule?
We would appreciate any help.
Thank you

Highly recommend you to take the bullet train from Shanghai to Hangzhou, just taking about 1.5 hours. Lots of choice! If you would like to leave for Hangzhou early in the morning, it is better to purchase the train ticket one day in advance at any railway station of Shanghai. Except of weekends and holidays, it is easy to get the ticket just before leaving.
Ps: most of the D (bullet)train will stop at Hangzhou Railway Station, which is not far from the hotel.

The Hangzhou East Bus Station has four buses to Xitang everyday, respectively at 06:50, 09:25, 11:20 and 13:50. No need to book ticket in advance.
