About:China Eastern Airlines

Good Morning,

I need urgent information. I am the head of a group of 30 people that will fly with your company from Beijing to Xian and from Xian to Shanghai.

Since we will be in Shanghai for the solar eclipse of Jul, 22nd, and we will be carrying some instruments like telescopes (so "unbreakable" and very "fragile"), I need to know:

- if there is the possibility to allow more than 5 Kg in the cabin (and maybe a little oversize baggage - the telescope is a tube of 15 cm diameter and length one meter)
- how much is the price of any extra Kg
- if it is possible to bring the luggage to be sent (not in the cabin) to the airplane on one's own, we are very scared about transport tapes, especially for the scopes.

Thank you very much for your quick reply, and our kindness.

Alf

For China domestic flights, a first class adult ticket holder can take the luggage of 40 kg free of charge (checked and carry-on luggage); A business class adult ticket holder can take 30 kg free of charge (checked and carry-on luggage); An economy class adult ticket holder is allowed to bear 20 kg for free (checked and carry-on luggage).

The size of each carry-on luggage should be smaller than 20 X 40 X 55 centimeter and total weight should be less than 5 kg. Otherwise, the luggage should be checked together with your other luggage.

For your fragile and oversize telescopes, you can check them when handling the boarding procedure. The charge rate of the overweighted luggage for China domestic flights is 1.5% per kilogram, multiplied by the economy class ticket price. Each Chinese airline company has a different method and rate to charge the overweighted luggage to which passengers should pay attention.
