About:Chinese Embassy in Switzerland

I will be travelling to Geneva and require a tourist visa for China and was wanting to apply for it while I was in Geneva. I have an Australian passport and was wondering if this is possible.

I have heard that it is difficult with a non-swiss passport. Any thoughts?

It is possible to get a Chinese tourist visa in Switzerland. For non-swiss passport holders, you are required to hold a Swiss visa or residence permit when you apply for the visa there.
