About:China Tourist Visa

I am trying to extend my L visa for another month after already extending it at the local Entry/Exit place where they basically issued me a new single-entry visa for 940RMB. The guy said he could give me another month if I get some kind of certificate from the school where my friend is teaching but I wonder if I'll just have to pay another 940RMB.

As I know, Chinese visa can seldom be extended. I assume you extended your duration of stay of your visa. For longer stay, you'd better go to the local public security bureau to apply for a residence permit.
