About:Guilin Travel

I have been to Guilin with a group of students, educators and parents. Amazing place. had a two night stopover but plan to go back in September this year with an even bigger group. Want to spend more time exploring and partiularly interested in the ethnic group further north of Yangshou (?) - all I know is beautiful scenery and locals wear brilliant colours/jewellery. I'd like someone who knows the area to guide me as to the how long it would take to visit, how receptive they are to tourists and the best mode of transport. the city of Guilin also offers many attractions, some of which we only found out about when we arrived but could not fit them in. Any suggestions eg lake area in the city???

Lake area? Perhaps the most famous there is the Li River (Lijiang). You can take a cruise ship on the river from Guilin to Yangshuo. Scenery along the river is very beautiful.

We just came back from Guilin. The must see is not just going down the Li River. Stay for the evening show at the end of the boat trip, think Olympics Opening Ceremony, but 3 times better. The Director/Producer of the Guilin Show was tapped to be responsible for the Olympics ceremony because of this 'River' show in Guilin. I guarantee you have never seen anything this spectacular, words/description would not do the job, you have to be there. I believe very little is promoted about this by Guides because of the 'dead time' between the boat trip, and the start of the show at 7:40pm. They don't know what to do or sell the tourists for that dead period.
