About:Shenzhen Travel

We are moving soon to Shenzhen with our 2 young children (aged 5 and 6). We are looking for a chinese/english bilingual school or a french school for them. Any ideas where? We are looking to live around futian? Is is a safe and accessible area (in terms of grocery shopping and other conveniences)? Thank you!

Hi!

check schools on shenzhenparty.com
We're in Nanshan and the kids go to QSI, much cheaper than SIS but I think you might have more choice in Futian. French schools are non existent, though in Shekou the AFESS means your kids can get some French environment teaching after school. I don't put my kids there, they were both born in the UK and we just do French at home. Shekou is near Nanshan, west of Futian, which is west of Luohu again. All the expats congregate in Shekou and Nanshan - I would say best for you if you're not working and you want to have a normal life and meet ladies by joining the SWIC for some support > find it and write to the editor or hospitality for more info mentionning this thread).

Oooh and for groceries, don't worry, you'll soon find out where Carrefour, Metro, Jusco and Walmart are! Don't buy meat anywhere else and I'd think twice about too much fish. It's full of mercury here I'm told. Again, joining SWIC is your best bet and don't be put off by the fact that it's based in Shekou, it's just the base, the info is still useful.
