About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Daily travel to Shenzhen

My colleague from India is holding a Hong Kong working visa for 4 weeks. During this period, he intends to make daily return trips to Shenzhen for sightseeing, not for business.

We would like to understand whether he should apply for a tourist visa. As he plans to return to Hong Kong on the same day for each visit, he will not be booking any hotel accommodation in Shenzhen and intends to travel by train or coach via the Shenzhen border.

In this case, how should he provide proof of accommodation and return travel when applying for the visa?

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Indian citizens although technically and formally eligible for 5 day Shenzhen VOA run a high probability of being rejected, at least at the time being. Also, if they obtain a usual, full tourist Chinese visa it will be a single or at most double entry visa. Even here you have detected a possible problem because Chinese Visa Application Service Center (CVASC) will be more than reluctant to grant a visa without a single overnight in the country. Just to summarize, it is definitely not probable that an idea of daily return visits could be possible/successful. I am sorry for bringing you the news of this kind, but it is better to know the reality of the situation than to suffer a rejection at the border crossing.
