About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit flight from Tashkent to Kuala Lumpur.

Hello. I am Kyrgyz Republic Passport holder, we are flying as a family of 5 people, and our layover in Guanzhou is 13,5 hour. I read from the China Southern website they provide free accomodation. But how do I get outside the restricted area, and use the free accomodation. Can you help me with this, thanks.

Part 1:

Chyngyz, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need a visa of any kind. This is the most important detail

Since you have a long layover and you want to exit the airport for this very purpose you can all apply for a temporary entry permit upon your landing in Guangzhou in order to be allowed to exit the airport and to make a short visit to the city. You will do the following:

1. Before your departure from Tashkent, you can fill out Chinese arrival card through the official website for free: https://s.nia.gov.cn/ArrivalCardFillingPC/entry-registation-home
2. Upon your landing in Guangzhou you will perform fingerprinting at automatic fingerprinting machine
3. Approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight tickets and the proof of your accommodation since you plan to stay stay overnight in the hotel provided by China Southern (it is advisable to have them as a printout or at least as a screenshot in your smartphone). This is all free of charge
4. When you have received your temporary entry permit in your passport you will head to the immigration and finally to the city to enjoy your time on your own.

Part 2:

Here I have to warn you that the issuing of a temporary entry permit (a permit that allows you to exit the airport and to enter the country) is not a passenger right, but more like a bonus that is offered to those having a long transit times, having an overnight layovers and those traveling with small children or disabled persons. In your case, you will almost certainly be granted a temporary entry permit, but I wanted to inform you about its nature and the fact that the issuing is not a right, but a bonus offered to certain groups of passengers in transit on case by case basis. Have a wonderful journey.

Thanks for the answers, though I have a question about the free accomodation provided by China Southern, I have tried to book a free accomodation for transit passanger with long layover on their website, but it was stated that I have paid Accomodation, not free. So in this case what should I do, can I just got to the temporary entry desk without accomodation proof, and explain that I am going to get it from the China Southern desk?

Yes, you will just perform all four steps highlighted in the post titled as the "Part 1". Instead of presenting your accommodation confirmation you will just say that after you cross the immigration that you will visit CSAIR counter and obtain an accommodation voucher there. If you only can you should try to make some kind of reservation for some particular accommodation because it is always asked on arrival card to present the name of your hotel/accommodation. If you do not manage to do that, you will just write down something like transit or day trip or similar instead of the name of some particular accommodation. I hope this helps.
