About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240 hour transit

Hello, I will fly from Budapest to Chengdu with a transfer in Shenzhen. From Chengdu after 9 days, I will take a train to Guiyang. After that, I will fly from Guiyang to Hong Kong, where I will stay for 2 nights.

Following my stay in Hong Kong, I will fly to London with a short transfer in Haikou.

Does this itinerary comply with the 240-hour visa-free transit policy? Thank you.

Yes, your itinerary is definitely eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. You should have in mind that you will have to buy your Guiyang to Hong Kong flight ticket before you depart from Budapest because you will be asked to present it in both Budapest at the time of your check-in and in Shenzhen upon your landing there. You will perform all the formalities in Shenzhen because it will be your first point of contact with mainland China. Also, you should check whether the luggage for your flight from Guiyang to Hong Kong is included in the ticket price because the cheapest HK Express tickets usually do not have a luggage included in the price.

As far as your short stop in Haikou is concerned, you should not worry because it will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. Also, it is good to know and it seems that you are well informed, the day of arrival into mainland China is not counted against your available 240 hours (10 days), so you can afford 10 nights in mainland China by relying on 240 hour visa free transit. Have a nice visit to China.
