Yes, of course. You are allowed to cross the provincial borders and to visit, for example Beijing, Xi'an and Shanghai, all in your available 10 days. This is the intention of 240 hour visa free transit. You should just have in mind the basic rule that requires that the immediate points before and after mainland China have to be in two different countries or eligible territories (eligible territories are Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau). So, if your immediate point before Beijing was US, you cannot have an exit immediate point to US. So, US - mainland China - South Korea is fine as it is Japan - mainland China - Hong Kong or dozens of other options, but it cannot be say, Malaysia - mainland China - Malaysia. Also, it is important to use correct terminology in order to avoid any possible misunderstandings. It is not 240 h transit visa, but 240 hour visa free transit. You can enter mainland China through Beijing and exit from Guangzhou. This is also allowed, but you have to buy your exit ticket even before you depart toward mainland China. Have a nice visit to China.
