About:How to Travel to China without a Visa

240 hours Visa Free to China

We are flying from the US to Shanghai on April 11-2026, with a connecting flight in Seoul, and arriving into Shanghai on April 12-2026. We will stay in China for 6 days, fly back from Beijing to Seoul on April 18-2026, stay in Korea for 9 days, and fly back to the US on April 27-2026. Can we apply for 240 day visa free in Shanghai? Thanks.

Sorry, you are not eligible for the 240 as the country before and after China is the same South Korea, which is not an eligible international transit route. To fit in the 240, you need to change your transit country of your inbound OR outbound journey, for example, US - Japan - Shanghai and Beijing - Seoul 9 days - US, then Japan - China - Seoul is the eligible route.
