About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

240-Hour Visa-Free Transit with UK passport

I am planning to fly with UK passport:
London > Beijing (stay for 5 days) > Hong Kong
Stay in Hong Kong 12 days, then fly:
Hong Kong > Beijing (stay for 5 days) > London

Am I eligible? I believe I will be effectively using this policy twice in succession, so although I plan to only stay in Beijing for 5 days each way, can I stay up to 10 days each time (20 days in total) if I wanted to?

You have perfectly understood the essence of 240 hour visa free transit and indeed, by using your itinerary you can use 240 hour visa free transit - twice. Each time you can use 10 days in mainland China regardless of the short time frame that you plan to use them. This is perfectly allowed and accepted. Have a nice visit to China.
