About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Hong Kong to Shenzhen back to Hong Kong

Hi-
I wanted to take the train from Hong Kong to Shenzhen, spend a day in Shenzhen before returning back to HK. Does this qualify for the 240 hour visa free transit? I have a US Passport.

Unfortunately, this is not possible under 240 hour visa free transit because this is a round /(return) trip and not a transit. Your best solution is definitely Shenzhen 5 days visa on arrival that comes at the price of 130 CNY and all major bank cards (debit and credit) are accepted.

You can take a suburban train from Hong Kong center to Lo Wu border crossing. There you will clear Hong Kong exit formalities and shortly walk to Luohu mainland China entry port where you will apply for a Shenzhen 5 days visa on arrival. It is a simple and straightforward procedure and you do not have to do anything in advance (everything is done at the border crossing). After your stay in Shenzhen you can return to Hong Kong by taking any border crossing and any mean of tarnsport, high speed train included. Hope this helps.
