About:China Visa Application Requirements

What visa is right for me?

I have an income of $1,200/month. I am sober. I am a student. Can I live in China for parts of each year? I was thinking about renting an apartment year round and visit China off and on throughout the year.

I think it's pretty hard to achieve. If you want to stay longer in China, like a few months, you need to study or work in China with X or Z visa.

Would a volunteer job be acceptable? I would be happy to contribute to my new country.

If you do volunteer job, you may need F or Z visa. As you are a student at present, I think there may be problems to apply for work Z visa. For F visa, you need a invitation letter from the company or organization hiring you.
