Part 1:

It is obvious that you do not need any kind of visa because your itinerary will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit. It is essential to carefully count your total transit time and that one is calculated from the first scheduled landing in China (in your case in Beijing) until your final departure from China (in your case from Guangzhou). If that, total time does not exceed 24 hour in length, you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit. In your case you have a short layover in Beijing, then a couple of hours with domestic flight from Beijing to Guangzhou and a relatively short layover in Guangzhou. That is less than 10, let alone 24 hours. So, you can proceed with your travel plans without any visa and with total peace of mind.

Here is what will you do regarding the formalities:
- At the time of your check-in in London you will declare that you are traveling to Sydney via China using 24 hour visa free transit. They will check your flight tickets and after a short check you will receive your boarding passes and you will be allowed to board Beijing bound flight.
- When you land in Beijing you will fill out arrival card (you will find it at the airport) and you will tick the box - transit on it.
- You will after that proceed to fingerprinting machine where you will perform fingerprinting.
- You will approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit (this is not a visa, but just a permit that allows you to exit the airport (transit area) during your transit time). Here you will present your flight tickets (have them as printouts), arrival card and fingerprinting receipt.

Part 2:

- After a short check, you will be granted a temporary entry permit and you will head to the immigration and then to the gate for your domestic flight to Guangzhou.
- Very important detail here is that you will have to be very agile and fast since your layover is quite short. It is definitely possible to perform all the formalities within that time frame, especially in the compact, although large airport as Daxing is, so I will ask you for your speed moving. If you see the queues at 24/240 hour visa free transit, feel free to ask for a priority!
- When you land in Guangzhou you will just proceed toward the exit immigration and head to the gate for your flight to Sydney.

Now, it is hard to say whether you will have to deal anything with your luggage, but I would say that something like this will not be necessary because your luggage will be tagged in London all the way to Sydney. However, when you perform your check-in in London, you will ask about this detail. Please, just do not forget about it! My bet is that the luggage will be tagged all the way to Sydney because the layover in Beijing would be a bit too short even for that formality.

So, you are good to go, have all those details I have written in mind and just proceed with absolute peace of mind. Have a nice journey.
