About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

trip from HK to Shekou to Macau

Hi
i was told this route is allowed under the 240 hour visa free transit. of course ship to Shekou from HK has a ticket. However, how do we prove the trip from China to Macau (after 6 days in China SZ and Zhuhai)? we were going to just take a private van from zhuhai to macau to hong kong (because in the end we go back to hk before flying back to another country).

Yes, you are correct about the route, there is no doubt about it. You will take a ferry from Hong Kong to Shekou (in Shenzhen), but I would like to inform you that you are not limited to Shenzhen or Guangdong province only. In reality, you can visit quite a large portion of mainland China.

Here we have arrived at the detail that bothers you most. I will immediately tell you that you cannot exit from Zhuhai to Macau in the way you have planned. You simply have to travel from mainland China to Macau on a public transport on a through transport option by using just one ticket from mainland China to Macau. That ticket has to be bought in advance, even before you depart from Hong Kong toward Shekou. So far we have always recommended just one option beside taking a plane and that is a ferry from Shekou to Macau operated by TurboJet ferry company. I hope you will be able to adapt to such a reality because it would be quite hard to find an alternative. In any case I wish you a pleasant journey.
