240 hour visa

Im travelling with children in October. Our flight is to hong kong via chengdu (stopover for 23 hours) then our flight back from hong kong stops in peking for 20 hours. We will be in hong lond for 10 days. Im wondering can the 240 hour visa be used to go over to shenzhen once we have arrived into hong kong, and also will we be allowed to leave the airport when arriving at chengdu and peking?

If you go to Shenzhen to apply for the 240, you need to take a ferry and provide the ticket to leave mainland China in 10 days for another country or region except for HK. An easier way is to apply for shenzhen port visa at Luohu port, which can be reached by MTR train from Hong Kong.

You can leave the airport in Chengdu or PEK after obtaining the 24h temporary entry permit at the immigration counter.
