About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

18 hour layover in Shanghai

Hi,
I hope you can assist me on my inquiry

I'm a Vietnamese (vnm passport) holding a long term UK visa. On my internery from UK - VN, I will transit at Pudong airport for 18 hours, would I be able to apply for a 24 hour transit free visa at the airport when I land? I want to go outside the airport and do a day trip around the city.

Thank you for your consideration.

Yes, you are eligible for the 24-hour visa-free transit. And it is possible for you to get a temporary stay permit to get out of the airport and visit the city. Enjoy your journey!

Hi Giang,

No you cannot. I'm actually now stuck at Beijing airport. They denied me to entry. I'm holding also a Vietnamese passport. They change the policy every minute. Crazyyy

Huy, you have awfully mixed up the entire situation... You have traveled successfully via China visa free covered by 24 hour visa free transit. This is what the rules say and the Chinese authorities have respected that. However, to be allowed to exit the airport was never a right to those in 24 hour visa free transit, but a good will or better to say, discretion right of the immigration officials. Just think about these details and please stop spreading false testimonies.
