About:How to Apply a China Visa in Hong Kong

US citizen doing z-visa in Hong Kong

As an American citizen looking to teach in China starting September 2025, I'm wondering about processing my Z-visa from Hong Kong instead of returning to the USA. How common is it for teachers to get their Z-visas processed in Hong Kong, and do reputable employers/schools typically know how to facilitate this process? I have all my apostilled documents ready (degree, CELTA, FBI background check) and would prefer to avoid the expense and time of flying back to America for visa processing. Any insights on whether established schools can handle the Hong Kong route efficiently would be greatly appreciated.

You can apply at Hong Kong visa center and normally the employers will help with your visa application (they will issue you the Foreigners' Work permit notice, the most important document for work visa).
