Syed, the first and the most important detail is that your itinerary is eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. Now, since you plan to exit the airport, I have to inform you that you have to be aware that the issuing of a temporary entry permit to exit the airport (transit, sterile zone) is not a passenger's right, but a gesture of good will by the Chinese immigration authorities. In other words, you can expect both outcomes, although I would say that the outcome will be a positive one. In any case I would say that your chances to be granted a permit are very good since your layover is really a very long one. So, upon landing in Guangzhou, the first thing that you will do is to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting flight tickets and an accommodation booking. After a short check, you will be granted a temporary entry permit and then you can head to the immigration and finally to the city to enjoy your layover time in sightseeing and/or resting in the hotel. I wish you a nice, although short, visit to Guangzhou.
