About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

I hold a Pakistani passport and am traveling from Dubai to Manila in transit via Guangzhou Airport.

I hold a Pakistani passport and am traveling from Dubai to Manila via China Southern Airlines, transiting through Guangzhou Baiyun Airport. The layover time at Guangzhou Airport is 5 hours on the way out and 3 hours on the return. Do I need a transit visa, knowing that I booked last year from Dubai to the Philippines via Cathay Pacific Airlines, and the transit was at Hong Kong Airport, with a layover time of 3 hours. They confirmed to me with the booking that I do not need a transit visa, but at Dubai Airport I was prevented from boarding the plane on the pretext that I did not have a transit visa.

Abdulrehman, Hong Kong and mainland China have different immigration rules. When you were rejected from boarding when you were traveling via Hong Kong, they were, unfortunately, correct because Pakistani citizens really need a transit visa when traveling via Hong Kong. However, Pakistani citizens are allowed to use 24 hour visa free transit when transiting via mainland China, so both of your layovers will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. The situation here is very simple. Upon your landing in Guangzhou you will just walk from one to the other gate and you do not need to perform any formality nor to fill out any form. Literally anything. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs inspections. You will just wait for your onward flights within the transit area of Guangzhou airport. Also, it is important to mention that at the time of your check-in in Dubai for your flight to Guangzhou, you will declare that you are traveling to Manila (Philippines) via China (Guangzhou) using 24 hour visa free transit. This is it and there is nothing else to add. Have a nice journey.
