About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

London to Taiwan via Beijing

I'm hoping to travel to Taiwan via China (Beijing). The connection is short in China. Does Taiwan definitely count as a third country? I'm also looking to fly home to the UK, via Shanghai from Taipei. I'm nervous that I can't see anything on the China government website that permits this travel without a visa for Taiwan. I travelled to China (had the best time) last year for 30 days with a visa.

Yes, Taiwan definitely and without any doubt counts as a third territory. Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macau are considered as eligible third territories for 240 hour visa free transit purposes. They are not named as countries because they are Chinese territories, but they are eligible in the same way as South Korea, Japan or Australia in this regard. In other words, you can travel through mainland China to Taiwan absolutely visa free based on both 24 (with short layover) or on 240 hour visa free transit, as you wish. This is 100% confirmed information and you can freely proceed with your travel plans. Have a nice journey.
