No, you do not need any kind of visa because your transit through China will be covered by 24 hour visa free transit scheme under the assumption that you will arrive into Guangzhou from a country different than Malaysia. Since you do not plan to leave the airport, you will basically just walk from one to the other gate and you do not need to perform any formality nor fill out any form. Also, you will not be a subject of immigration and customs inspection. You will just cross a security check between two gates. Now, since your layover is a long one, you will have to find some amusement for your very long layover, but it is you that know yourself the best and I wish you a pleasant flight.
