About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Please as a Nigerian , do I need a transit visa from New Zealand to UK ?

Hi

Please I am Nigerian that would be travelling to the UK from New Zealand and would have layover in China (but not up to 24 hrs) . I don't know if I would need a transit visa. My stops in China are Haikou and Changsha. I have tried calling the booking agent , airline and even the Chinese Consulate in Auckland and they have all referred me to the China NIA but all their contact channels aren't going through. Please would appreciate if anyone knows if I need a transit visa or not. Thank you

Chibuike, you have written one very confusing detail and that is that your layover in China is not going to be "not up to 24 hrs". Does that mean that your entire transit time will be longer than 24 hours? If your entire transit time is longer than 24 hours in that case you need a transit (G) visa. If your entire transit time is shorter than 24 hours and you made a wrong statement in your post, they you are eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. So, when you arrive in Haikou the first thing you will do is to approach 24/240 hour visa free transit counter where you will apply for a temporary entry permit by presenting your flight itinerary. This application is free of any charge and you need a permit because your next flight is a domestic one. After you have received a permit, you will head to the immigration and then to the gate for your flight to Changsha. Upon landing in Changsha, you will head to the exit immigration and then to your gate for your flight to UK. So, you do not need a visa, just proceed and have a nice journey.
