About:China Visa Application in USA

Travel docs needed

We adopted my now 24 y/o daughter from China in 2003. She is currently living and teaching English on a work visa in Seoul and I'm planning an extended visit with her this summer. We have also located her first two Chinese families and want to plan a 9-day visit with both of us traveling to and from China from Seoul. Will either of us need a visa to travel to two separate cities in China? And if so, will I apply for my visa in the U.S. before heading to Korea? And will my daughter's visa need to come from the U.S. based upon her U.S. passport or will it need to come from Seoul? Thanks in advance for your help!

As US citizens, you may take advantage of the 240h visa free transit by plan an international transit route like A - China - B to avoid visa application. You can see details on this page:

If you have problems in planning such a route, then you both need a China visa. You need to apply in USA and your daughter can apply at visa centers in South Korea with her long-term work visa.
