About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Subject: Visa Inquiry for Bank Account Activation in China, Need a Visa

Dear Sirs,

I trust this message finds you well.

My name is Willem Bosch, and I am a citizen of South Africa. I opened a bank account in China in 2017, but my bank card has since expired. In order to reactivate it, I understand that I am required to travel to China and can complete this process at any branch of the bank.

As a South African citizen, I am aware that I am not eligible for the 10-day visa-free policy available to citizens of 54 countries. I would like to kindly inquire whether I could be granted a short-term visa, possibly for one or two days, to facilitate this process. My preference would be to travel to Guangzhou.

Currently, I am based in Cairo, Egypt, and would plan to travel from here should my visa application be approved.

Thank you in advance for your guidance and assistance. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards, Willem Bosch

Willem, I am afraid that you cannot be granted any kind of short term visa because those visas are simply non-existent in any normal and usual circumstances. Options with visa free transit are strictly related to the citizenship only, so you as the citizen of South Africa are only eligible for 24 hour visa free transit and that option is non relevant to your needs. Again, I am afraid that your only option is to obtain a full (usual, formal) Chinese visa in advance and to use it for all the necessary details you have to accomplish in China. I'm sorry for bringing you not so convenient news.
