About:10-year China Visa for US and Canadian Citizens

Tourist vs Q2

My wife is a Chinese citizen living with me in the United States. I want a visa for myself that allows the most flexibility in when we choose to visit her family over there so we can wait for good prices on flights over the next 10 years. Is a Q2 visa better than a tourist visa for this? Is it a problem with applying for the Q2 since she's not living in China anymore?

Are her parents still living in China? If yes, then you can apply for a Q visa as their son-in-law.

But is there a benefit to getting a Q visa instead of an L tourist visa?

You can stay longer in China with a Q visa, 180 days with Q2 and normally over 180 days with Q1.
