About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

US passport into Shenzhen and then train to HK

Would the 240 hour visa-free transit policy work if this is the itinerary? 1) Fly from US 2) Japan 3) Shenzhen 4) Take train to HK 5) Fly back to US from HK? I've seen some posts that have said that you can't take the train from Shenzhen back to HK and others saying that you can and wanted some clarification for a trip I'm planning with US passport citizens.

If you plan to take a direct flight from Japan to Shenzhen and after that a train from Shenzhen to Hong Kong, your plan is doable and you are eligible for 240 hour visa free transit. Please, keep in mind that your stay in Shenzhen should be more than 24 hours long and you should buy your Shenzhen to Hong Kong train ticket even before your departure from Japan.

Initially, I was thinking of going to HK's Lok Ma Chau Station via Futian port. However, with my past experiences with Futian port, I wasn't aware that you could get tickets for that train journey? Would I need to go via a different port like Luohu port or even the train that goes to West Kowloon?
