About:Chinese Embassy in U.S.A.

U.S. Tourist 240 Hour Visa Free

I am an U.S. citizen and live in House. I want to visit Beijing and Xi'An for 8 days. I will fly from Houston to Hong Kong then Beijing. Return from Xi'An to Hong Kong then back to Houston. May I go to Beijing with 240 hours visa free.

Sorry, HK - Beijing - Xi'an - HK is not an eligible route for the 240-h visa free transit as it should be A - Mainland China - B, and A and B should be different countries or regions.
