Travel to Hainan via Vietnam

Hello,
I am a UK citizen and want to travel to Hainan from Vietnam. I live in Singapore. Will I still be eligible to travel to Hainan visa-free?

If you have no other layover in China before landing in Hainan, you will be eligible for Hainan 30-day visa-free entry.
