Hainan visa

Hi

I am trying to travel to Hainan, which is supposedly visa free, but there are no direct flights to Hainan from London. There are only flights with 1 stop in mainland China

China says you can have 30 days visa free travel if there is a direct flight. But there are literally no direct flights from United Kingdom to Hainan. This policy is a scam. Or you have to spend a lot of money just to get into the country

You can make a a layover in HK which is workable. I search that there is one flight with Cathay Pacific Airways from Heathrow Airport to Haikou Meilan Airport with a layover in HK and the price isn't that high.
