About:Luggage Space on China Trains

Is there a real concern of someone taking your luggage when you store it in the large baggage area? If I book a first class seat on a high speed train, can I keep my 26" suitcase in between me and the seat in front?

Don't worry, stealing hardly happens on high speed trains. You can store luggage on the closet trustingly. But if you still feel worry about it, you can put your luggage on the luggage shelf over your seat. Of course, you can also put the suitcase between you and the seat in front; I once saw a young girl doing that in 2nd class carriage.

How about on sleeper trains? Is there concern with stealing on those?

No, stealing on China trains is rare. Thieves are always at big train stations.
