About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Does this itinerary qualify?

Air from USA to Turkey (layover)
Air from Turkey to Beijing (3 day stay)
Train from Beijing to Shanghai (2 day stay)
Air from Shanghai to Hongkong
Air from Hongkong to Turkey (layover)
Air from Turkey to USA

LP, your itinerary is definitely and undeniably eligible for 240 hour visa free transit and you do not need any kind of visa. This is valid under the assumption that you are a US citizen or a citizen from 54 eligible countries. The segment that is of interest to the Chinese authorities is Turkey - mainland China - Hong Kong. This is the segment that is important and it fulfills the rules of 240 hour visa free transit. Everything before and after that is of no interest to the Chinese authorities. Have a nice visit to China.

Yes i am a citizen of the USA.

My other concern is, is it ok if im traveling by train from beijing to shanghai? I dont see the train station as port of entry for shanghai?
