240-Hour (10 Days) Visa-Free Transit in China

I hold a US passport....can I visit China using the 240-Hour (10 days) visa free transit in China by flying Singapore-Chongqing-Kuala Lumpur(Malaysia) even Singapore and Malaysia are so close to each other connected by a bridge but 2 different countries?
