About:Ulaanbaatar – Beijing Trains

Train from Ulaanbaatar to Erilan and Hohhot?

I plan to travel in a couple of years.
1) How to travel as comfortably as possible by train from Ulaanbaatar to Erilan and Hohhot?
2) Are there any usable places to spend the night in Erilan and Hohhot on the way to Beijing?
3) And what are the rules for visas when crossing the border from Mongolia to China by train? I assume I have to get a visa for China before leaving my home country and going to Mongolia?

1. The train has hard sleepers and soft sleepers. Soft sleepers are relatively more comfortable.
2. There is a hotel opposite Erlian Train Station and many hotels are available near Hohhot Railway Station.
3. Your visa and passport will be checked on the border. Nationals of Norway are granted 30-day visa free entry to China until the end of 2025. If the policy continues in your travle year, you don't need to apply for a China in advance. Just bring your Norway passport and ticket leaving China within 30 days.
